National Hedgelaying Championship 26th October 2002

Unfortunately I did not get to see all the classes this year, notably the Derbyshire and Welsh classes, but hopefully the images below show the extremely high standards of hedgelaying on view.  It was interesting to see Nigel Adams and Phil Strugnell competing in classes "off patch" and coming up with intriguing hybrid entries which caught my eye straight away and both won prizes in their respective classes

Peter Tunks South of England Open class winning entry Staking and binding on Peter Tunks hedge - magnificent!

Somerset
Hazel run between crooks holds the laid stem securely in place Nigel Adams interesting Somerset section clearly showing other influences!

Yorkshire
K Walmsly's lovely Yorkshire hedge was going to make it onto the website even before I knew it had won first prize Phil Strugnell's interesting Yorkshire entry caught my eye, displaying distinctly South of England influences!
